THE STORY

leaning into intuitive play, this piece tells the story of a slow and gradual building of washes, paint strokes and mark-making. each layer brings with it some wonder, and some newness – a playground to explore so to speak.

the work was created with an initial, short piece of prose written on the canvas. these lines then became the gentle guide for the brush strokes.

responding to each colour and medium in as slow a manner as possible, the work was
created in sporadic bursts over 2 years, with the final majority of layers finding their way into completion at the beginning of 2023.

in finding the final resting place of the artwork, i was reminded of a stained-glass window. the symbolism of this visual struck home with my core values in that i believe most things, especially the in-between and mundane moments, are made unexpectedly marvellous by the Light.

STRETCHED – printed onto premium canvas and stretched around a wooden frame so that it is ready to hang, with or without a frame

UNSTRETCHED – printed onto premium canvas, left flat without stretching. can be framed behind glass or stretched at your local framer. this option is the most cost effective for shipping as it is easy to roll up
